Beyond the camera work that makes the viewer feel like they're really at the event, and the fun pastel colors and bouncy energy of the video, I was most impressed by the singer's ability to convincingly take on two (well, really three) distinct personalities throughout the video. Being able to effectively capture the dueling characters, including differing facial expressions and body language, is the sign of a true performer. I enjoyed it.Kristahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13616275942894119189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-893286301123648539.post-80963469448674486452010-04-01T22:12:36.572-07:002010-04-01T22:12:36.572-07:00Deleted the first attempt and am reposting this co...Deleted the first attempt and am reposting this comment to be a bit clearer: A quick response/epilogue for those perhaps not thoroughly familiar with the band... Gibbard's earlier lyrics are famous for uniformly being a bit morbid and depressing. In 2008 Gibbard met and began dating actress and sometime-musician Zooey Deschanel. They married in September of 2009, and while Death Cab has yet to release a full album composed during or after the relationship, there seemed to be a slightly more positive view of life on a couple of the tracks on the last EP that was released.Tyler Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05439404425867221212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-893286301123648539.post-77300989984232828182010-04-01T22:10:30.113-07:002010-04-01T22:10:30.113-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Tyler Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05439404425867221212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-893286301123648539.post-48324612411711450982010-04-01T19:05:59.041-07:002010-04-01T19:05:59.041-07:00Great blog, great writing! Love the term "shoegazer/mumblecore."

This song is a heartbreaker; it was on the wedding CD of two people I love very much, one who lives with more than one crappy chronic disease.

Ultimately, I think this is a young person's song. Because death is no freedom; at least not for those left behind.Kirby Larsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18362445818834966589noreply@blogger.com
